Please call your congresspeople ASAP -- like NOW (find their phone numbers at Project Vote Smart... you want to call your state representative and your two senators) to urge them to reject a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. It might be more critical than you think... if this amendment makes it out to the state legislatures, there are already 38 states (the number needed to ratify an amendment) with gay marriage bans, and if their legislatures all consider it as trivial to amend the United States Constitution to suit their religious beliefs as they do to amend their state constitutions, that's enough to alter the very fabric of our nation to officially support and enforce discrimination. If you've ever been jealous that you weren't born in time to witness and participate in a sea change in American civil rights, that you weren't there to march on Washington with Dr. King, NOW IS YOUR FUCKING CHANCE SO DON'T BLOW IT. The constitution supports the right of gays to marry, otherwise this amendment wouldn't be necessary, know what I mean? So even if it grosses you out that some guys do each other in the butt, at least step up to the fact that it's wrong to fuck with the constitution to appease your grossed-outedness. PLEASE CALL NOW.
